NotebookLM
NotebookLM answers questions exclusively from the documents you give it and does not research freely on the web - invented citations become markedly less likely as a result. It only becomes useful, however, once real files are uploaded; anonymisation is hardly a way out here. For professional secrets no route is closed: Google does provide a data processing agreement for its workplace suite and an undertaking not to use an organisation's content for training public models without permission - a confidentiality agreement under section 203 of the German Criminal Code is not part of it. Every upload is therefore a disclosure to a third party without that element; with a private account the data processing agreement is missing as well.

What it is good for
- Answers only from your own documents - lowest risk of invented citations
- No free web search in standard operation: the question does not leave your own document set
- Fits file summarisation and a matter knowledge base better than a general chat
Where it stops
- The benefit depends on uploading real files - and that is precisely where anonymisation does not help
- No confidentiality agreement under section 203 of the German Criminal Code, no separate zero-retention commitment
- The private and the business variant look almost identical - easy to confuse in daily use
