Muse Glimmer

Vendor: muse-glimmer-30b, as of 29 September 2026

The compact tier of Meta's Muse line, successor to the Llama line: distilled from the larger sibling model and published under a free licence, that is, without a user ceiling and without a vendor consent reservation. It is enough for summaries, memos and correspondence on your own material and makes do with modest hardware. The professional-secrecy position follows directly from that: the chain is closed in dedicated operation on reserved hardware in Germany, where only the data centre operator can still participate and is bound via section 203(4) of the German Criminal Code - and when running on your own hardware, where the disclosure question under section 203 does not arise.

Available through us

Everything section 203 requires is settled, including the provider's confidentiality undertaking, and nothing is stored at the provider, apart from a technical cache of a few minutes for Claude (zero retention). You do not have to clarify anything further.

What it is good for

  • Apache 2.0 without a user ceiling - the Llama licence had a threshold of 700 million active users
  • Runs at 30 billion parameters on a single graphics card, that is, in dedicated operation
  • Tool and function calls are part of the model, not retrofitted

Where it stops

  • Only released in August 2026 - there is no solid practical experience for firm use yet
  • No legal fine-tuning; references and deadlines remain subject to the practitioner's review
  • Performance below the large cloud models, particularly on long chains of argument

Status through us

The same model, procured differently, is a different legal position. The status above refers to procurement through us; processing takes place in Germany.

Which route carries it, with which instrument and under which condition, we set out in full to the firm before it commissions us - section 203(4) requires that the chain can be checked, not that it is published. The full matrix, with the sources behind every route, can be requested in the German catalogue after confirming your e-mail address, and we go through it in the conversation.

Is Muse Glimmer the right fit?

We go through your tasks and the route that carries them - and say plainly where it does not.
