Qwen

Vendor version: qwen3.8-flash (as of 29 August 2026)

An open, reasoning-oriented model from the Qwen family that shows its intermediate steps: you see not only the result but the path to the assessment - helpful where the derivation is to be checked professionally. It works particularly reliably on structured extraction from documents; it hits German legal register less surely than the European models. Three routes are closed for professional secrets: dedicated operation on reserved hardware, the EU operator of open models as a German operator, and the Open Telekom Cloud, where the model runs in German data centres and the confidentiality agreement under section 203 of the German Criminal Code is signed. Via IONOS the chain remains open as long as the product-specific confirmation of the section 203 clause is missing.

Available through us EUR 0.238 per million tokens

Everything section 203 requires is settled, including the provider's confidentiality undertaking. You do not have to clarify anything further.

The operator bills separately - input EUR 0.15 · output EUR 0.50. The figure above is the blend of the two, weighted three quarters input to one quarter output, as it arises in a firm. Passed through at purchase price, without a mark-up.

What it is good for

  • Reasoning-capable model with traceable intermediate steps for analysis and research preparation
  • Open weights - EU operation with no data flow to the model vendor
  • Efficient A3B architecture - favourable latency and cost profiles for high-volume tasks

Where it stops

  • Case-law citations and references must be verified as a matter of principle - invented citations are a documented failure mode of generative models
  • No legal or tax-specific fine-tuning - the professional assessment remains entirely with the practitioner
  • Training and guardrail decisions rest with the model vendor - for sensitive assessment questions a cross-check against a second model is advisable

Routes examined

The same model, procured differently, is a different legal position. What is examined per route is the contract chain, not the model.
