Nemotron

NVIDIA's open model line, graded from a compact to a very large tier. The reason for its entry is the exceptionally large context window: a complete file including annexes fits into one operation without having to be cut up first; the largest tier does, however, demand more computing power than a single machine provides. If the model runs on your own hardware, no third party participates and the disclosure question under section 203 of the German Criminal Code does not arise. In dedicated operation on reserved hardware in Germany and via the Open Telekom Cloud the chain is closed as well: there the signed confidentiality undertaking binds the operator participating in the processing.
Everything section 203 requires is settled, including the provider's confidentiality undertaking. You do not have to clarify anything further.
What it is good for
- Context window of up to one million tokens - large files do not have to be split
- Nano and Super run in dedicated operation on a single card, Ultra needs more hardware
- Hybrid Mamba architecture: faster output on long inputs than pure transformers of the same size
Where it stops
- NVIDIA Open Model License, not Apache or MIT - commercial use is permitted, but the licence is vendor-specific
- No legal fine-tuning; the professional assessment stays with the practitioner
- The Ultra tier cannot be operated on a single dedicated instance
