The most compact tier of Google's Gemini family, built for volume work: sorting receipts, pulling fields from forms, classifying incoming mail, preparing standard correspondence. Pleading drafts and long derivations belong on a larger tier of the family. It is procured via Google Vertex AI, and on that route the contractual chain is closed: the platform operator has signed a confidentiality agreement under section 203 of the German Criminal Code - service-bound, that is, not tied to a single model - with the chain obligation under section 203(4) ahead of it. Calls have to be restricted to the EU endpoints for this; the global endpoint gives no residency guarantee.
Everything section 203 requires is settled, including the provider's confidentiality undertaking. You do not have to clarify anything further.
What it is good for
- Cheapest and fastest tier of the family - built for bulk runs across many receipts
- Callable through the platform's EU endpoint, processing committed to the EU
- Same contractual position as the large tiers: the confidentiality agreement is service-bound, not model-bound
Where it stops
- Compact model class - legal assessment, long reasoning and pleading drafts belong on a larger tier
- Per the vendor documentation the platform's global endpoint gives no residency guarantee - procurement has to be restricted to EU endpoints
- The exception from logging is project-bound - it has to be applied for again per customer project
- CLOUD Act exposure remains - the third-country module is mandatory
