The mid-size class of OpenAI's GPT line, cut for throughput and cost: same family, same handling and same answering style as the large class, only faster and more economical - the working tier for everything that arrives in volume. Under professional-secrecy law the route via Azure carries: processing stays inside the EU, storage at rest in the chosen Azure geography, and the confidentiality line is signed - it covers the models sold by Azure, which per documentation include this line. On that route the chain under section 203 of the German Criminal Code is therefore closed.
Everything section 203 requires is settled, including the provider's confidentiality undertaking. You do not have to clarify anything further.
What it is good for
- Considerably cheaper and faster than the large class - the right choice for tasks in volume
- Same contractual and residency position as the large class: EU processing, signed confidentiality undertaking
- Four tiers of the same class available - a version change does not alter the route
Where it stops
- For multi-step analysis and subsumption the large or the reasoning class is the right choice
- Abuse monitoring is active by default; switching it off depends on a vendor approval that cannot be booked directly
- On the retention period in the abuse data store we found no publicly available document with a stated term in the product documentation (as of 2026-08-17) - the term has to be settled through the contract text, not the product docs
