Gemini Pro
Vendor version: gemini-2.5-pro (as of 29 August 2026)
The large, reasoning-oriented tier of Google's Gemini family with a very large context window - the choice for files with many annexes and for contract and pleading work where the whole matter has to be present in one pass. Via Google Vertex AI the chain is closed: the platform operator has signed a service-bound confidentiality agreement under section 203 of the German Criminal Code, processing during the request is committed to the EU, and the project-specific exception from logging has been approved. The condition remains that procurement is restricted to EU endpoints - the platform's global endpoint gives no residency guarantee.
Everything section 203 requires is settled, including the provider's confidentiality undertaking. You do not have to clarify anything further.
What it is good for
- Very large context window - a complete file with annexes fits into one pass
- Reasoning tier of the family for contract and pleading work with many cross-references
- Processing committed to the EU, procured under the platform operator's signed section 203 agreement
Where it stops
- Per the vendor documentation the platform's global endpoint gives no residency guarantee - procurement has to be restricted to EU endpoints, enforceable technically by organisational policy
- Highest price and latency tier of the family - for bulk tasks a more compact tier is the better choice
- The exception from logging is project-bound - it has to be applied for again per customer project, and the section 203 agreement does not replace it
- CLOUD Act exposure remains as long as a US group sits in the chain
Routes examined
The same model, procured differently, is a different legal position. What is examined per route is the contract chain, not the model.
| Route | Section 203 status | Version on this route |

The conditions behind a conditional status - which piece is open on which route and who closes it - are set out in the full matrix in the German catalogue, and we go through them in the conversation. The German page for Gemini Pro carries the sources with their retrieval dates.
