ChatGPT Reasoning
Vendor version: o3 (as of 29 August 2026)
OpenAI's line designed for multi-step inference works through a chain of derivation before answering. That pays off where the order of the checking steps matters - holding sets of clauses against each other, breaking facts down onto statutory elements, searching for contradictions in documents - but costs considerably more response time than the standard tiers. The line is procured via Azure, and on that route the contractual chain is closed: the confidentiality undertaking is signed and covers the models sold by Azure. Processing stays inside the EU, storage at rest in the chosen Azure geography.
Everything section 203 requires is settled, including the provider's confidentiality undertaking. You do not have to clarify anything further.
What it is good for
- Multi-step inference with an internal chain of derivation - stronger on orders of examination than the standard class
- Four tiers in the EU, two of them additionally as a regional deployment in Sweden
- Same contractual line as the other models sold by Azure
Where it stops
- Considerably longer response times and higher cost than the standard class - unsuitable for bulk tasks
- The internal chain of derivation is not an audit report: case-law citations and references still have to be verified professionally
- Abuse monitoring is active by default; switching it off depends on a vendor approval that cannot be booked directly
Routes examined
The same model, procured differently, is a different legal position. What is examined per route is the contract chain, not the model.

The conditions behind a conditional status - which piece is open on which route and who closes it - are set out in the full matrix in the German catalogue, and we go through them in the conversation. The German page for ChatGPT Reasoning carries the sources with their retrieval dates.
